This is a wonderful memoir. I know the author and his wife. Very special, wonderful people. This story gives one a tiny glimpse of what a horror WWII was to so many people.
I loved this book! I think this book should be read by middle school children- Not everyone has the same up bringing and the courage to get through it. Just a great read!!!!!
I was very moved by these memories, perfectly told through the voice of the child who experienced them. Because he was a small child, the boy didn't realize that his separation from his family and the events he witnessed were out of the ordinary, making his experiences all the more poignant. He tells only what he remembers while the reader who is familiar with the horrors of those days can imagine his mother's anguish and admire her courage. By simply and honestly telling his own story, the author makes it anyone's story. It's a short and very worthwhile read.
